Chaplain (Lieutenant Colonel) John C. Verdugo


Chaplain John Verdugo was born and raised in San Diego, CA. He enlisted in the Army in 1991 and completed Basic Training at Fort Knox, KY. He served in church ministry from 1996-2005. He completed Chaplain Officer Basic Course (CHOBC) in September 2005, and was commissioned to active duty service as a United States Army Chaplain in 2006.


Chaplain Verdugo holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Bethel College, Saint Paul, MN (1999), a Master of Divinity (M.Div) degree from Bethel Seminary West, San Diego, CA (2005), and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas A&M Central Texas, Killeen, TX (2015). He is endorsed as an Army Chaplain by the Coalition of Spirit-Filled Churches, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of TX, and an American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Supervisor in Training.

Chaplain Verdugo currently serves as the Watters Family Life Chaplain Training Center Deputy Director at Fort Liberty,
NC. He and his lovely wife Loretta celebrate 32 years of marriage, and their five wonderfully talented children: John (30),
Josiah (28), Zachary (25), Gabriella (23), and Ephraim (21).
